Obtaining a Library Card
How to get a Library Card
The Keller Public Library district is fixed by the limits of the City of Dexter. The Library is financed by a tax on property within the city limits. Library cards are issued at no cost to those who reside or own property within the city limits of Dexter, or who attend the Dexter Public Schools. Library card applications are available at the circulation desk. Two matching proofs of address and a photo ID are needed when applying for a card. You will also be asked for the name of a personal reference who resides at a residence other than your own. A parent or guardian must sign for youth under the age of 18.
Library cards are available to those who reside outside the city limits of Dexter. Because they do not pay a Library tax we ask that they help support our Library with a small fee. An Individual Rural Patron card is $10.00 per year, or a Family Rural card is available for $20.00 per year. For the protection and privacy of all cardholders you should have your library card with you when you check out materials or access the computers. Your card is assigned to you as an individual.
The person to whom a card is issued is responsible for all materials borrowed on that card, as well as overdue fines and replacement costs if materials are damaged, lost or destroyed. The Library must be notified of any change in address or telephone number or if your card is lost or stolen. A new card can be purchased for $1.00.
Anyone without a library card is welcome to come to the library and read newspapers or magazines, browse through the books, use the reference or genealogy material, attend programs, purchase copies, and find answers to questions from our librarians. We are very glad that you wish to use the Keller Public Library!
